The metaverse, which has been a concept for many years and has often been discussed in the film industry, has gradually become clearer in the technology world following a series of developments. Changing its brand name to ‘Meta’ and Microsoft allocating significant budgets for virtual reality are among the most important ones.
When we examine the historical development process of the metaverse, we first encounter this concept in the novel “Snow Crash” published in 1992. In this book, the metaverse is portrayed as a fictional world. It gained more widespread recognition worldwide with the Matrix films that followed and captured the interest of many people.
This new technology aims to build a virtual public space. The currencies to be used in this public space are also traded in the cryptocurrency market. In fact, Seoul has become the first city to create a public structure by entering the virtual world.
